Takeda and Eli Lilly have faced an estimated 10,000 Actos lawsuits filed by patients and family members of those who were harmed by Actos. Lawsuits have been filed for bladder cancer, bone fracture, kidney disease and other injuries. People filing Actos lawsuits claim that the anti-diabetic medication played a role in the development of bladder cancer. The lawsuits accuse the manufacturer, Takeda Pharmaceutical Company, of hiding the relationship between the drug and the cancer from patients and healthcare providers. Actos is a medication manufactured by Takeda Pharmaceuticals for treating type 2 diabetes. It was first approved by the FDA in 1999 and quickly became a popular treatment.
